Practise ordering food and drinks at a traditional Italian restaurant. Meet Marco, your friendly waiter, and learn the essential phrases for eating out in English.
It is your first day at a language school. Meet Jamie, a friendly classmate, and practise introducing yourself, talking about where you are from, and making a new friend.
AI English roleplay is an interactive practice method where you have real-time conversations with an AI tutor playing a character — a waiter, hotel receptionist, job interviewer, or colleague. Unlike textbooks or grammar drills, roleplay builds fluency by forcing you to think and respond naturally in context. Research shows that simulated conversation practice significantly improves speaking confidence, response time, and vocabulary retention.
All five core CEFR levels are supported: A1 (Beginner), A2 (Elementary), B1 (Intermediate), B2 (Upper Intermediate), and C1 (Advanced). Each scenario is labelled with its target level so learners can choose appropriate challenges. A1 scenarios use simple vocabulary and short exchanges, while C1 scenarios involve nuanced discussion, idiomatic expressions, and complex grammar structures.

The AI stays in character throughout the conversation and corrects grammar, vocabulary, and phrasing naturally within its replies — the way a patient native speaker would. It does not interrupt the flow with formal corrections. Instead, it models the correct form in its response and occasionally highlights useful expressions, helping you learn from context rather than isolated rules.

Yes. Roleplay practice builds the spontaneous speaking and listening skills tested in IELTS Speaking, Cambridge FCE/CAE, and other oral exams. Practising varied scenarios improves your ability to respond to unexpected questions, maintain a conversation, use a range of vocabulary, and self-correct — all criteria that examiners assess. Dedicated IELTS preparation modules are also available separately.
Browsing all 400+ roleplay scenarios and reading their descriptions is completely free with no account required. Starting an interactive practice session requires a free account. Premium subscribers get unlimited AI practice sessions, detailed feedback, and access to advanced teacher personalities.
Traditional courses teach grammar rules and vocabulary in isolation. AI roleplay puts you inside a conversation immediately, so you learn language in context — the way children acquire their first language. You make mistakes, get corrected naturally, and build muscle memory for real interactions. It complements formal study by giving you the practice hours that classrooms cannot provide.
There is no limit. Each time you repeat a scenario the conversation takes a different path based on your responses, so you encounter new vocabulary and sentence patterns. Repeating scenarios is one of the most effective ways to build fluency — each pass makes your responses faster and more natural.
