Possessive 's and Whose 🔑

We use 's to show that something belongs to a person or to talk about relationships between people. We use whose to ask who something belongs to. Let's learn the rules! 🎯

1. Possessive 's ✅

Add 's after a person's name or a noun to show possession:

• This is Peter's bag. (the bag belongs to Peter)
• My cat's eyes are green. (the eyes of the cat)
• Anna and Tom's house is beautiful. (one house, shared by two people)

2. Plural Possessives ✏️

Type	Rule	Example
Singular noun	noun + 's	the student's book
Regular plural noun (ends in -s)	noun + ' (no extra s)	the students' books
Irregular plural noun (no -s)	noun + 's	the children's toys

3. Possessive 's for places ✅

We also use 's for shops, houses, and familiar places:

• I'm at John's. (at John's house)
• I need to go to the chemist's. (the chemist's shop)

4. Asking with Whose ❓

We use whose to ask about possession. There are two forms:

• Whose bag is this? (whose + noun + is this?)
• Whose is this? (whose + is this? without a noun)

Answers can be with or without a noun:

• It's Mike's bag. ✅ / It's Mike's. ✅

5. Whose vs Who's ⚠️
