La respuesta rápida

Usa un superlative adjective — normalmente adjetivo + -est, o the most + adjetivo — para comparar tres o más cosas y elegir la más extrema. Se dice the biggest animal, no the more big animal.

La regla

Un superlative siempre necesita the delante, y compara una cosa con todo un grupo, no solo con otra. Los adjetivos cortos (de una sílaba, y algunos de dos) añaden -est: tall → the tallest. Una sola vocal más consonante duplica la consonante: big → the biggest. Una -y final cambia a -i: heavy → the heaviest. Los adjetivos más largos usan the most en vez de una terminación: dangerous → the most dangerous. Algunos adjetivos comunes son irregulares: good → the best, bad → the worst.
