Academic Excellence
We use these words to say that a situation was true in the past, but it is not true now. They mean exactly the same thing, but they are put in different places in the sentence.

| No longer | Mid-sentence (before normal verbs, after 'be'). The verb is POSITIVE. | I no longer live in London. He is no longer my boss. |
| Not ... anymore | End of the sentence. The verb MUST be NEGATIVE. | I don't live in London anymore. |
| Not ... any longer | End of the sentence. The verb MUST be NEGATIVE. (Same as anymore) | He isn't my boss any longer. |
Because no longer already has a negative word ("no"), you CANNOT use it with "don't" or "doesn't".
