Action vs. State Verbs 🧠

In English, we have two types of verbs. Dynamic verbs describe actions (run, eat, jump). You can use them with '-ing'. But Stative verbs describe a state, feeling, or thought. We almost NEVER use stative verbs with '-ing'!

Thoughts & Ideas	know, understand, believe, remember, forget	I understand the lesson.
Emotions & Feelings	like, love, hate, want, need, prefer	She wants a coffee.
Possession	have, belong, own	This book belongs to me.
Senses & Appearance	sound, smell, seem, look (appear)	That pizza smells good.

Important Rules ⚠️

• ✅ I know the answer.
• ❌ I am knowing the answer. (Wrong! 'Know' is a state of the brain)
• ✅ We need some help right now.
• ❌ We are needing some help. (Wrong! You cannot use -ing with 'need')
