Kısa cevap

Question tag, cümlenin sonuna gelen kısa bir sorudur. Doğru olduğunu düşündüğün bir şeyi dinleyene onaylatır: You are coming, aren't you? Olumlu cümleye olumsuz, olumsuz cümleye olumlu tag gelir.

Kural

Tag, ana cümledeki yardımcı fiili tekrarlar: She has left, hasn't she? Cümlede yardımcı fiil yoksa do, does veya did kullanılır: You play tennis, don't you? They left early, didn't they? Tag'deki zamir öznenin yerini alır: The bus is late, isn't it? Never veya nobody gibi olumsuz bir kelimeden sonra tag olumludur: Nobody called, did they?

İki özel durum: I am ile aren't I kullanılır (I am invited, aren't I?), Let's ile shall we kullanılır.

Sık yapılan hatalar

• ❌ You speak Spanish, isn't it? → ✅ You speak Spanish, don't you? Türkçedeki değil mi her cümleye uyar; İngilizcede tag her cümlenin yardımcı fiilini kopyalar.
• ❌ He arrived late, doesn't he? → ✅ He arrived late, didn't he? Geçmiş zaman cümlesinde tag her zaman did ile kurulur.
• ❌ They are late, are they? → ✅ They are late, aren't they? Olumlu cümle olumsuz tag ister.
• ❌ Nothing happened, didn't it? → ✅ Nothing happened, did it? Nothing olumsuz bir kelimedir, tag olumlu kalır.
