Read the passage and choose the best answer for each question.
Should children help with the housework at home? In many families, this is a big question, and parents do not always agree.
Some parents say yes. They think chores teach children to be responsible. When a child makes the bed, washes the dishes, or tidies the living room, they learn important life skills. These parents often give their children a small amount of pocket money for their work.
Other parents are not sure. They say that children are very busy with school and homework. After a long day, a child needs time to rest and play, not to clean the kitchen.
Experts say that small jobs are good for children. A young child can feed the cat or put away toys. An older child can cook simple meals or wash the car. The jobs must always be easy and safe.
Most experts agree on one thing: when the whole family helps, the house is happier and the work is faster.
This A2 text gives two opinions about one question: should children help with the housework? As you read, notice how the writer first gives the parents who say yes, then the parents who are not sure, and finally what the experts think.
Watch for the useful everyday words: chores are the small jobs you do at home, to be responsible means to take care of your duties, and to tidy a room means to make it clean and neat. Try to guess each word from the sentence around it before you check the meaning.
